LOP question
 

I have a question concerning Length of pull. If a gun was stocked for example at 14” with double triggers, I know we measure from the front trigger to the end of the butt.
If this same gun is the converted to a single trigger and set in the rear position and you take a measurement. The LOP measurement will indicate a shorter LOP. So in this case should the measurement be taken from where the front trigger used to be?

I do not believe so. I measure the few single trigger guns I have from thier actual trigger position.

Measurement is from the trigger. Wherever it may be. So a rear position single trigger gun will have a longer stock than a DT gun.

Ok thats how I have always thought to do it. So basically a 14” double trigger gun converted to a single trigger will measure about 1/2” plus shorter with the same stock.

The reason is that the hand is in a different position with the trigger location,

The Parker Repros are a great example. The Japanese put the same LOP on double or single trigger guns. The single trigger stocks are almost an inch longer but no one seems to notice. My steel shot is a single trigger and I have a little trouble mounting it quickly when wearing heavy clothing.

i noticed wright off ,way tooo long for me . never could understand why they made them that way. parker did it too with their skeet guns. had one and sold it because checkered butt so i didnt want to shorten it. with a single trigger it should be about 13 1/4 + or- 1/8 th inch or so.

Thanks guys thats what I kind of figured. Sorry for the slow response. I just spent 8 days remotely hunting turkeys.

How did you do?
It was slow here in early thru mid March.Turned on here in the last few weeks.

Bob it was pretty tough. It took us a week to finally get our turkeys. There was a fair number of birds but there were two hunts before ours.
The birds did gobble really good in the mornings but got pretty quite after hitting the ground.
All of the guys we have met and camped around us also commented how tough it was.
The birds we finally shot were brought in by getting hens to respond and the Gobblers followed them in.
Nothing like being in the woods at 4:30 AM and listening to the gobbles thundering through the canyons.
Bob I hope your season continues to improve. I have a fond memory of taking a Osceola with my 8 gauge with you.
