Starrett bore gauge

I highly recommend the Starrett bore gauge that J Kucaba has offered for sale. They are a work of art and a very fine instrument and easy to use. I got one from him and it allowed me to at long last assess the choke honing I very mistakenly had done on a very nice 26" SG 1-1/2 frame VH12. This gauge showed that, thanks to a gunsmith that will remain unnamed but not uncursed, my nice little gun now has 4" of blunderbuss choke in the right barrel to the tune of a few thousands. Imagine my joy at this discovery, especially since he left only .017" wall thickness at the muzzle and an uneven and non-concentric wall, which now gets dented every time a mosquito lands on it or the wind blows too hard. :cuss: No longer any wonder why this gun seems to kill birds so well seemingly without any help from me at close range. We live on and learn hard lessons in the process I guess. This one's on me; I should have known better and do profusely apologize to the gun and the community for my stupidity.

Anyway, this is a very handy and portable tool for measuring the full depth and diameters of chokes and the price is a steal. Thank you Jim!

Richard, What city is your gunsmith in? Thanks, Tom
