Primers and Powder in Northern Ohio

Went to Canton Ohio this morning for a meeting. When finished, I treated my wife to a trip to the Belden Village Mall. As we pulled into the mall she mentioned there is a Fin-Fur-Feather sporting goods store across from the mall “OK -a plan comes together”. After several hours at the mall, I stopped at FFF.

I was surprised at the amount of primers in stock- CCI & Federal (rifle and pistol) and Remington # 7.5 rifle and pistol # 1.5
There was a sale on some primers. The Rem 7.5 were I believe $12.00 per 100.
Cheddite 209 and Federal 209A primers were advertised but only Cheddite's were on the shelf.
The only shotgun powders I noticed were Longshot and Titewad, but a number of rifle and pistol powders were there even though the website says out of stock.

I wanted Federal 209A shotgun primers but none were available today.
Stopped at the check out and ask how they keep track of the limited # of primers allowed to be purchased. The response was we realize some customers are driving 2 + hours to come here, so we do not count.
Hopefully, that is the store policy on all primers at all locations (there are 6 locations in northern Ohio).

The prices here are lower than I have seen in central Ohio for the last 3 years.

I will be returning to this store and I have no financial ties to this company.

Jim, I always stop there when going thru Canton, 2 hrs from me. Their prices have always been good. That is their closest location to me. Cant think of the big reloading/gun shop in Massilon that Ive been wanting to hit also. Did they have much shotgun ammo on the shelf? What was the price on the Longshot? They used to have decent prices on lead shot, and carried Claybuster wads also.
I forget, where in se Ohio are you? I grew up near St. Clairsville( Belmont Cnty), and roam Belmont, Monroe, Jefferson counties.

Dawson Enterprises
7191 Nave Road S.W.
Massillon, OH 44646
(330) 833-0014

Their (Dawson's) powder prices seem to be a bit lower
Longshot 1 lb = $ 30.00 & 8 lb = $ 217.00
also a large selection of ammo but sometimes a limit that can be purchased.

FFF 1 lb Longshot = $ 35.00 did not remember the larger amount prices .
They (FFF) have more powder in stock than the website shows.
Large selection of rifle & pistol primers (shows on their website).

Large amount of 12b ammo, did not look at other gauges.

I live in Zanesville

I go to Fin Feather & Fur whenever I’m feeling sorry for my self. It’s amazing how a new reel or a box of ammo lifts the spirits.

Businesspeople call it "retail therapy".

I prefer recoil therapy

I once lived 15 minutes from Fin, Feather & Fur in Canton. And about 25 minutes from Dawson's in Massillon. It wasn't West Virginia, but it sure was "almost heaven."

I'm ten minutes from the FFF in Boardman, OH. Just bought some Dan's Hunting Gear from them, Awesome stuff. Totally American made in Sugarcreek, Ohio by Amish folks. Bombproof briar gear for bird hunting.

Good ammo prices, too, especially if you watch the Sunday sale circular that comes occasionally.

I stopped in at Kittery Trading Post today and was very surprised to see several thousand Winchester 209 primers. First time I have seen them anywhere locally since the pandemic started almost three years ago. Just before the pandemic KTP was selling them for $39.99 per thousand. Today it was $79.99 per thousand plus sales tax. What will be interesting to see is how long they will last and when will they be seen there again.
