A summation of GUN CARE products’ popularity
 
After reviewing a couple of the more recent and lengthy threads on what members use for gun A) Cleaning; B) Protecting (metal); and C) High Movement, Wear, and Friction points, here are the results of my (**Not-Peer Reviewed**) survey:

CLEANING

Ballistol (seven votes)
G-96; WD-40; Hoppes #9; (three votes, each)
3 in 1; Clenzoil; Gunzilla (one vote each)

PROTECTING (metal)

Ballistol (six votes each)
G-96; WD-40; (three votes each)
Rem Oil; Clenzoil; (two votes each)
3-in-One; Pre-Serv; 5W-30; 10W-30; EEZOX; Whale Oil; Ren. Wax; RIG; (one vote each)

HIGH MOVEMENT; FRICTION, and WEAR POINTS

RIG (three votes)
Lubriplate grease; Frog Lube (two votes each)
Lucas Red “N” Tacky; Whale Oil; WD-40; 3-in-One; Wilson Combat Ultima Lube II; Gunslick; Penn reel grease; Krieghoff Gun Glide; Vaseline; CLP; 5W-40 (one vote each)

Thank you Russell. There is a fairly well designed "study" on the internet about corrosion protection that is quite telling. If I find it I'll post it. I think the WD40 guys would not like the results. BUT, these days I do believe any product is adequate considering what they had over 100 years ago and we're still shooting these Parkers.
