Vent rib, beavertail fore-end, and Damascus BBLs? That's off the hook cool!
You need to seriously post more pictures of that gun.
I would love to hear some history of that gun, as well.

Not mine, a buddy's. I have a few nice ones, but not consistantly and not that many.

The records on the vent rib Bernard do not show it was made with those features but the work is clearly factory work, SN on underside of rib, etc. The rib is Bernard steel also, kinda cool. When Parker was using these damascus barrels, they must have received shipments of damascus and Bernard rib stock but I don't know that any new old stock ribs have been found.

My buddy won't post here because of some comments made by some of our posters, so I post for him because he also believes in keeping interest high and we have the same passion for these old guns. I'm more imune to adverse comments.

Bruce, do you know the manufacture date?
Also, was the BT fore-end factory?

Bruce Day 03-11-2011 10:45 PM

I'm thinking about 1907.

Yes.

Not mine, mine are ordinary in comparision.

Bruce,

On my computer screen the top rib logo looks to be engraved and not roll stamped. Is this a clue the vent rib was installed much later in life than in 1907? My understanding from reading previous posts on the subject on Parkers built with Damascus barrels in the late 20's where customers ordered a new gun and the factory was instructed to "frame up and stock old barrels" the customer supplied. The rolling die couldn't be found so they engraved them. Does anyone know when the logo engraving first appeared on late Damascus guns?

Beautiful pictures Bruce.

Vent rib legends are not rolled in my experience.
