Favorite Rifle We've Sold
2022 I reduced my gun numbers, my regrets:
Custom Built British stalking rifle on Field's Action 45 3 1/4 in. Black Powder Express in mint condition. 2 Pre-64 Model 70 one in 220 Swift other in .257 Roberts |
I don't remember ever selling a favorite rifle. I just keep buying them. I did sell my ES350 Mauser .22, but got an obscene amount for it, so I'm not too sorry about that one.

Years ago I traded a pre-WW1 Mauser sporting rifle (type B) double set trigger, claw bases and rings, El Paso Weaver K-3 for a G grade Parker and a Browning Superposed Lightning. I have kicked myself many times since then. That rifle shot 165 gr. round nose bullets very accurately and produced one shot kills in concurrent rifle seasons in S C PA.

A Remington 541S .22 Sporter. Obscure model, but based on the 40X Sporter as I understand it. Sold it to a Amish man at the OGCA show in Columbus. As he walked away with the gun I already had seller's remorse. Took me many years until I found a virtually new one at Jaqua's

I rarely sell anything for this very reason. I did sell a heavily customized Pre 64 Model 70 257 Roberts that I sort of regret from time to time.

To this day I regret selling my Dad's Savage Model 99E in .300 Savage when he no longer had a firm grasp on reality due to the onset of Alzheimer's. That was in the mid-1990's and I sold it with a set of Lyman hand-loading tools, about 300 empty shells, slugs, primers, powder and a large steel military ammo box... all for $350.00

I still kick myself for selling this WJJeffery 6.5 x 54R rifle. I have never seen another.

Winchester 1894 30/30 from 1963 that was in excellent condition.
I just remedied that by picking one up from 1962 to replace it. So I guess I no longer regret it... Got lucky and found a nice one for what I sold the other one for. There are some guns everyone who loves guns should own. A pre64 1894 is one such gun. :D |
D.Frasier 450 3 1/4 Falling block ...idiot!
|
Remington pump in .243. Bought it new in 1966, and foolishly sold in the late 70s for less than I paid for it. Once bitten twice shy. Never do that again.
