turkey loads

whats gonna be your turkey load and favorite gun you gonna use on opening day of turkey season...mines gonna be a 3 inch long range elsie...first time for me to use this gun...my loads selected areremington 3 in load of no 5s for the left barrel and a load of 3 in winchester no 6 s in the right barrel...the long range seems to like the 5 s best but theres a few more 6s so that will be mychoice for the first shot if the chance of a shot happens... my backup gun will be the ph parker 10 ga...shooting no 5 short ten load of them old long range shells.... charlie

I'll be using my DH 12 ga. 30" F/F again but it's getting a little boring to use that one all the time. Last year I used my VHE 28 ga. F/F but never was able to call a longbeard in close enough for a killing shot. I'll probably bring the 28 along this year just in case I get that urge again.

In the 12 ga. I use a standard 2 3/4 Winchester 3 1/4 DR. EQ. pushing 1 1/8 oz. #6 shot. Easy enough on the gun but nasty enough on the turkeys.

i will be shooting a 2 frame EH choked .025 or my NH choked .035 with 1 1/2 oz 6 shot. i did alot of test and i can get 85% with that load, 1 5/8 shot 80%, and 1 3/8th shot 83%. i found 6's shot the best for me, i shot 4,5,and 6 in differnt load combo's. good luck scott :bigbye:
