Stock Crack - VH
1 Attachment(s)
Hi Everyone,
I took a nasty spill in the woods this year and I just couldn’t get the gun out of the way like I usually can. To that end, I’ve managed to crack my VH partially through the wrist. It’s not bad, and some may argue it’s not even worth fixing. However, I’m more comfortable getting it sured up in the event I take another spill. Could anyone recommend some competent stock workers for this type of endeavor? Thank you in advance. |
Matt Begley, Black Diamond Gun Works is near Springfield Oh and is good---and you can drive it there and not worry about shipping it.

I can't tell from the picture how bad it is. Your call on if you finish the season out with it or not. But get it fixed I've never seen one get any better.

I would get it fixed myself too. Like Jeff says, it is not going to get better by itself

Update on this for everyone: Brian Dudley was kind enough to address this for me, and his reputation precedes himself. I had to consult my "before" pictures to even locate the area where the damage had been. Fantastic work.

Very cool, I can't stand having a crack in a wood stock......
You did the right thing in getting it addressed. |
Thanks for the mention Dylan.
The crack was really very minimal. And did not need much work at all. The fact that the trigger guard screw went right through the cracked area is what held it together so well when you took the fall. And I knew that since the damage was caused by a fall, and not shooting, that it would be fine going forward after the repair. The bigger issue was the fact that the action was very filthy inside. But I took care of that while I had it too. |
Brain does great work.
