It’s getting hard to find shotgun shells.

RST & Pollywad vintager is what I like to use but neither place seems to have any of my shells. I shoot 12, 16, & 20 ga mostly.

I have a VH fluid steel barrels double 20ga Parker. Would standard hunting loads harm my gun?

Thanks, for the help.

I have a couple 20's that are fluid steel . They get mostly handloads for skeet and sporting . But at tower shoots etc i shoot factory that are usually ounce loads . My handloads incidentaly are equivalent to factory skeet loads .

I have 3 Parker 20 ga's with fluid steel and shoot factory game loads 7/8 oz loads thru them without hesitation. I occasionally shoot a 1 oz load but have little need for them. My favorite are my 3/4 oz reloads. Just picked up a few more hundred packs of Federals at Wally World.

I’m shooting factory shells exclusively these days, using two Parker SBTs for singles and handicap and a GHE for doubles. Mostly RIO, all 12 gauge in 2 3/4 and 3 dram equivalent, 1 oz and 1 1/8 oz. Around 18,000 shells per year, + or -.

Unfortunately I think Polywad is out of business. I have sent two messages to them through their web page and never got a return e-mail. Called once, got a recording, left a message, again no return call.

I'm shooting factory shells in my SBT's and my Utica Foxes. I've always stuck to RST's in my Philly guns and I have quite a few left, but when they're gone...? I don't do any volume shooting to speak of other than with the trap guns so I imagine I'll be shooting factory shells then. I do try to stay at 1200 fps or less.

I stick to low velocity, low ounce factory shells. I am hoping RST gets back to normal soon.

I’ve been finding a limited supply of 12 gauge Winchester 2 3/4 dram 1 1/8 oz at 1145 fps. I may be wrong but I assumed they were lower pressure because they are slower. Also some 2 1/2 dram, 7/8 oz 20’s. Both just under $9.

The Fiocchi 1170fps 12g 1 oz loads are somewhere near 7500psi I think and I have been using those. I've seen low velocity loads that were far from low pressure and somehow the shot payload plays a role along with powder burn rate. I used to look down my barrels about 50% of the time, the last two weeks it's 100% of the time.

I’ve switched to all factory loads. For the 16 gauge guns with 2 9/16 or 2 1/2 chambers, I prefer Winchester, because they are the shortest. In 12 gauge, I shoot Winchester white box at 1145 fps.
