Repair code?

I have a gun with XYY3 stamped on the barrel flats. I assume this is a repair code but am away from my book. If anyone can enlighten me I'd appreciate it.

The 3 would indicate it went into the service section of Remington/PB I believe ???

So it went back in December of 1952.

I wonder if a letter will reveal why it was sent back

That's how I read it Rich.

There is scant little (or none at all) information as to what was done to these guns at Remington in the way of service or repair.

Absolutely, Chuck will first take the Remington IBM cards from December 1952 and assemble them in a fan from 12-1 to 12-31. He will then chant your serial three times back and forth over the cards to get the Parker juices flowing.

Once this is done the cards will start to vibrate and will produce a 3 digit code that only Chuck can capture from the vibrations . Once Chuck has the 3 digit code and your serial # he will call some dead Remington employee to then access the FORBIDDEN Remington database with detailed first person repair details on your gun including the reason the owner told his wife that the gun needed repair.

Hey, you wondered.............. Rich, I have wondered too and this is what I came up with on my late Remington repaired guns. :):):):):)
