looking for input on late 1800's shotgun

Hi,

My Dad has a late 1800's 10 gauge double-barrel shotgun. Seems in nice shape - I'd be interested in any info or comments on it. I tried to get some good pics in outside light - some are better than others.

see this link for pics:

Thanks,

Dave

I haven't reconfirmed, why do you ask?

Manufactured in 1882. I don't think the butt stock is original, certainly the butt plate is not. The top tang is well above the stock and the trigger plate is above the rest of the metal. This could just be screws that are not tightened down. It has the later modifications that were done to the hammer guns.

If the barrels are sound, and a few issues taken care of, it looks like a nice gun to shoot with low pressure loads. Have a competent vintage gunsmith look it over.

Good point Chuck
is the buttplate checked or is it a skeleton butt?

GET A LETTER!!!!
This looks like a great gun to shoot clays with.
