Looking for Parker single Trap action?

I have been looking for about 2 years now for a quality boxlock singleshot gun for my Partridge/rabbit gun up here in Central Canada and have had no luck in finding anything of quality.

I now thought maybe somewhere out there I could find a well used single trap Parker Bros.action to build a new hunting gun on? Can anyone help me out? I have no trouble to export it up here into Canada, cheers Dale Z:)

Keep an eye open for one of the SC guns that was cut and had a Cutt's Compensator installed. My guess one of those would be least expensive.

Why do you want a single shot for Partridge and rabbits??

I want a single shot as here in Thunder bay Ontario Canada we hunt old logging roads, and shoot partridge in the thickest bush you ever seen, we have no fields to hunt for them , so it is alot easier to chase the game threw the thickets with a single shot,as I can fly threw the bush alot easier, and it is safer also! It is always hard to understand how others hunt in certain area's, don't get me wrong later in the season when all the leaves have drop I usually go back to a SXS, like my Parker DHE Pigeon gun 12ga!Thanks for any leads on an Trap action, cheers dale Z!

There is no safety on the Parker single.

Dale Zywina 02-15-2011 09:14 AM

That is fine as there is no saftey but my finger on my current single I use! it is just that when you have a twin tube gun, the little extra width always gets caught on the branches and is harder to swing into position, thanks to anyone who can help!Dale Z

Dale, why wouldn't you simply use a short, open-choked pump?

Dale Zywina 02-16-2011 12:19 AM

I have a Winchester model 1897 12 ga, 30 " barrel if I feel like carry a repeater, I enjoy it better with the single best!Dale Z! too each his own!

I agree, to each his own, indeed. I wasn't criticizing - just curious.

You may have better luck finding an Ithaca single Trap gun. It seems there were more of them made.
