Cold weather Fox
3 Attachment(s)
I was able to do 1/2 day of pheasant hunting yesterday along with a friend who got off work and to the mountain at noonish. A really bitter day with temp about 28-degrees with really strong winds. The wind chill had to be down in the 'teens. We each got one bird, partner's with a Browning o/u. My ringneck fell to a recent buy, Fox AE 12 with Kautzky single trigger. She's just the nuts for uplanding with gloves on. 28" and choked Light Mod and I-Mod, buttplate gun no recoil pad. Shells were paper reloads with 1-1/8 ounce of true #7 shot ahead of IMR "PB" powder.
Yeah I know many like the two trigger setup for quick choke selection on the flush - and so do I - but try that sometime when walk up hunting in frigid temps and ice cold/stiff fingers or gloves on. Kautzky single trigger/rear position is the nuts, at least it is for me. Two pics of the mountain area are included. This is a reclaimed and reverting strip mine area. |
Harry are you upset?
