I have a 1907 Grade 0/ VH 12 gauge with two barrel sets. Frame size is 1 1/2, barrel lengths are 28” and 26 1/2”. Trying to determine if I can shoot modern 2 3/4” loads for quail. Taking son and nephews and they are using all of my sub-gauge modern guns. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Richard

Richard, you really should consult a gunsmith who knows double guns to have your barrels (and the entire gun) checked for safety. Adequate wall thickness is necessary and it's not uncommon for older guns to have had their barrels honed to remove pitting. 26 1/2" is not a normal barrel length, so there is a sign that the rest of the gun is perhaps not in its original factory condition.
