CHE ingraving?
My recently purchased gun is up at Del Grecos repairing the ejectors and general inspection.I will post some pics when I get it back.
Both sides are the usual pointer and setter, very well done. The bottom however has a leaping stag, not a deer..looks like a European Red Stag. Has anyone seen this engraving on other guns?I have looked at many pictures and on the webs and have not found this engraving ?? Bill:usa |
The stag, and often the hind too, are common engraving subjects on the Grade 4 Parkers.

173847, a CHE 16 gauge with Acme Steel barrels, straight grip, splinter forend and SSBP has a stag on the flore plate. I would love to show pictures. Unfortunatly I sold it some 15 years ago.

Here's mine, an 1896 CH Bernard gun.
Oh well... can't really see the running stag in the picture but trust me, it's there. . |
I have a CHE two barrel set with a Stag on the floor plate. The second set is rifled.
|
James, what caliber?
|
My CHE is a 12 bore.
|
James,
You're saying that both barrel sets are 12 bore and that one set is rifled? Thanks, Dean |
James, we need to hear more about that gun. I would assume it is Doctor Snavely's old gun. Dr. Snavely was quite proud of it but I don't know if he ever shot bullets out of the rifled barrels.

My CH 10ga also has a stag on the floor plate
