Patience and lots of looking paid off....
I have been searching for a particular make up Parker that was within my budget and that could be hunted, not for a gun case collection (no offense to collectors here) for some time.
The gun was to be a 20ga. with 30 or 32" fluid steel barrels, either a straight (preferred) or pistol grip stock with dimensions close to "modern" and grade of GH. Well ya know how things go.... I kept my nose on a bunch of listings and on Wednesday last found something just about as I wanted. Its a 1924 VH 20ga. pistol grip stock with 30" fluid (Vulcan) steel barrels, choked IC/Full. Double triggers of course. The gun has seen a good bit of use but is tight and still retains some Case color. The barrels ring but there is some wear evident on the blue. The wood is in great shape and shows some figure in the butt stock (I am not sure if it is a replacement or not) and the checkering seems good. This gun comes from a very reputable dealer and after some talk on price I feel I did OK given the prices of some of the higher grade 20's and then those 32" barreled guns. I think this will certainly make a great dove and quail gun as well as a fun sporting clays 20ga. event gun. My current plans are to shoot this gun now and perhaps this winter send it off to be redone with new blue and case color. So, here ya go with some pics... comments welcome.... https://i.imgur.com/RFtX6e1.jpg https://i.imgur.com/u6PYWR5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/seGmX5Z.jpg https://i.imgur.com/NGfd8j6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/phFJrO3.jpg |
Dont tart the gun up. You bought it for a shooter. Just shoot it.

VERY NICE VH. I definitely wouldn't alter it at all. Shoot it man!!! A bit more barrel and choke than I prefer for quail but great for doves, flushing pheasants. Outta be wicked with bismuth over decoys for ducks! IC for incoming, full for fly-away ducks!

The checkering on the buttstock looks Remingtonesque, the forend not so much.
Other than that it’s a darn nice one. Are there any Remington codes on the left barrel flat? . |
I saw that one as well. Nice 20. I wouldn’t mess with that gun, leave it as is!

Leave it as is Bruce. When you decide to sell it I don't want it all polished and shiny!! :rotf:

You guys have convinced me and at that saved me some bucks. It stays as is. That savings will go towards ammo for it and I may need to add some LOP with a slim pad. Any suggestions for pad ? Thanks..... |
I gave that one a hard look. Really hard. The 30" barrels and the chokes pretty much had me sold. Had it been for sale by anyone else I probably would have caved.
