1899 Hammer Gun with Titanic Steel Barrels
 

I saw an ad for a grade 5 hammer gun with Titanic Steel barrels. The serial number dates the gun at 1899. I don't recall when Titanic steel barrels were first introduced. What are your thoughts on whether this gun might have had barrels added at a later date? It's a nice looking gun.

Apparently, there are existing records for the gun.

Titanic Steel barrels were first introduced by Parker Bros. in 1897. The serial number might tell us more on this gun.

94269 is not in the Serialization book but there are, according to our website's "Research Letters" tab,
factory records to support a research letter on the gun.

#94269 is the number posted on the site. There are existing records for the gun according to our website. It's a wonderfully appointed gun from the photos. Not in my budget for this year, though...unless I want to be divorced.

The originality of the buttstock and forend are questionable due to the non-Parker-like checkering patterns and the European drop points.

Not that those drop points have never been done on a Parker - I know of an original DHE 28 gauge where that style of drop points were requested on the original order.

Not in SB but "Records available" indicate order book information is available. That would usually disclose the original buyer and barrel specifications.

This gun was on the table at Hausmanns this past week. It was still there late the last day.

I did a search on 94269 and found this earlier post by Chuck.



Dean, this can get very confusing! From the appendix in TPS they list 5 TI5 hammer guns. S/N's 91632,94269,102517,102518, and 112752. Notice that Edgar's example 108658 is not listed in the appendix but we do have the order book for that gun, therefore 108658 should have been included in the Serialization Book and appendix but wasn't. Mark's gun 92850 is listed in the appendix as being a hammerless gun so it wasn't included as 1 of the 5 known TI5 hammer guns.

From what we now know, there were at least 7 TI5 guns made. Am I thinking correctly?
