Parker Bro's. Primer Tin

1 Attachment(s)
A few days ago one of our Members was looking for a primer tin logo or label.

About ten or twelve years ago when Dave Suponski and I visited Yonnie Hansen's home I took this picture of the primer tin included in the original case containing his beautiful Grade 2 Lifter. This is about the best condition one I have ever seen and very sharp and clear.

The picture Milton posted was of that logo on a box of 20 Metallic Central Fire Shells. Where it doesn't have the word PRIMERS at the top.

Did Parker Bros. really manufacture primers?

Doubtful they did. They probably didn't manufacture their own brass shells or loaded shells either, brass or paper.

"Doubtful they did. They probably didn't manufacture their own brass shells or loaded shells either, brass or paper."

Purdeys did. Why not Parker Bros.?

As I read that again, it is "Primers used with The Parker Gun, manufactured only by Parker Bro's." Meaning the Parker Gun was manufactured by Parker Bro's.

I guess they could have, what the heck, they made snuff tins, kitchen tools, eating utensils, pressure formed eyeglass cases and so on so they may very well have made their own cartridge cases or even loaded cartridges. So maybe Parker Brothers actually did make their own cases and cartridges. But I had read somewhere that they subcontracted that to a company that specialized in case and cartridge making. But I wasn’t there so I don’t know.

The primer tin logo appears to be nearly identical to what was used on the ammo boxes only difference being them marked primer at the very top.
