Checkering recommendation?

Any tips on who can re-checker my 1887 10ga hammer stock and handguard for a reasonable price?
The handguard was never checkered but I'm considering a very moderate checkering done on it.

Is there a consensus that this is violating its originality?

It’s your gun.

Brian Dudley can checker it to ‘period correct’ even if it was never originally checkered.
