Question on Merkel shotguns

I am looking at a couple of Merkel shotguns, one a 47E in 20ga.

I noticed some of them have a screw that runs through stock just short of reciever.... Similar to what you see sometimes when people fix cracked stocks in older guns. Some guns have this, some do not.

Does anyone have an overal impression on these guns?

Thanks for any comments.

Merkels are great guns. I have had them in a variety of gauges and models. All funtioned flawlessly.
The bolt through the cheek is found on single trigger guns. DT guns do not have it.

Ok thanks, was wondering why some had, and some did not.

Trying to find a decent 20ga, and I am considering that as an option.

Really like the CSMC RBL's and Parker Repro's also under consideration. Sold a few of my field guns and an ugly black rifle. Now just need to find the right gun for me. :-)

Merkels are very nice, I own an o/u in 16ga with 29 inch barrels that weights 6 1/2 lbs that I've had for over 30 years and would never sell ,2 of my friends keep trying to buy it.
