Parker SST
Been having trouble with SST failing to fire second barrel, I removed the trigger and cleaned per recomendations by members here. Trigger is oil free and as long as I shoot 45 degrees or below no problem, 45 Degrees and up it fails almost every time. Does the trigger need a dry lubricant? On the high angle shots pushing forward on the trigger or shaking the gun a little the second barrel will fire. It has the same results no matter which barrel is selected to fire first. Any ideas?Thank You.

The Parker single trigger experts are the Del Grego's, who still have Frank Fama's original single trigger set up jigs. I don't own a Parker single trigger gun, but if I did, there would be no doubt in my mind about who to turn to.
I owned an SST at one time and sent it to Lawrence for just preventative maintenance. He told me he cleaned it, put a very light coating of oil on it, and advised me against ever oiling it myself. He told me that the SST sears can wear down but it takes a lot of rounds and then they need to be rebuilt. I have no idea what is wrong with yours, just passing on Lawrence's words of a true expert. |
Scott,
Shaking the gun and it fires! Sounds unsafe and when safety is a concern I suggest you get it to a professional someone that can find and fix the problem. At this point, at least to me, it sounds like it is NOT something for an armature, or even a non-Parker, gunsmith to undertake. Firing unexpectedly is much different that not firing when you expect it to! A gunsmith is much cheaper than a lawyer here in the good old U. S of A. |
Robin- This is with snap caps, not live ammo. Point is there seems to be something not moving as it should at this angle, weak spring or lack of any lubrication on trigger assembly as the brake cleaner removed everything back to bright metal. Thanks,

Scott, I have to agree with our resident non expert Bruce. Single triggers are nothing to fool with. If after a thorough cleaning you are still having problems do yourself a favor and send it to Del Grego.

Lawrance DelGrego corrected a doubling problem which my GHE skeet HAD! The trigger pull felt perfect after that and no more doubling.
If you love your single trigger Parker don't let anyone else touch it! |
Scott, Parker single triggers are very touchy, if the brake cleaner didn't work it's time to send it off to Del Grego. I own 6 or 8 SST Parkers and if they don't work with a cleaning I send them off cause if you mess with them or have someone who doesn't know what they are doing you will have a real "mess" on your hands and alot more money invested to fix the fix. Ok Jack, since it tickles your funny bone I checked, it's 6 Vh skeet guns, one GH skeet, and one beat up 12 ga DH hunting gun, so I got it right, "8" (and my wife says I don't know what I have....! ) Eric

Eric, if you have six V Grade skeets, one of each gauge , is one a ten gauge? If you, in fact have two of one gauge, what gauge is the duplicate? Inquiring minds want to know.
