Our Loving Companions
It's amazing how our hunting dogs become such a big part of our daily life. I keep my dog's "Milk Bones" in a Hoosier Cabinet (from the family farm in southern Illinois) in the family room. My two Brits can be sound asleep at the other end of the house and magically when they hear the door opening on the cabinet they are right next to me with those big sad eyes. It's the same when I starting packing for a hunting trip, they go and wait for me at the garage door.
I'm amazed how they distinguish hunting cloths from daily attire. They are amazing friends!! |
There is a joke that says, "If you lock your wife and your dog in a closet for a few hours, only ONE of them is guaranteed to be happy to see you when you let them out. Stick with that one."

My dogs were the same way Scott. They would see me carrying my vest, boots and gun cases to the garage, and it was all over. They'd start jumping, barking and bouncing off the walls. I really miss those days, they're both gone now, but I'll get another puppy when I retire. I'm sure things will be the same!
