Keep It if you are going to be purchasing a reproduction 28 ga. in a one or two barrel set. If you purchase a two barrel set you can keep your gun with numbers matching and original chokes and have this one opened up with more usable chokes or have Briley choke tube it. If you purchase a one barrel gun it will most likely be a 26" gun and the 28" barrels swing bit better. If you want to sell them alone then I feel they are worth somewhere north or south of $2,000. You probably already have private messages asking about buying them from you.

Welcome to the forum Jeff!
Chances are is that the barrel set you have was/is part of a 2-bbl. set. If so, and if it is marked like my 2-bbl. set, there will likely be the number "1" stamped into the bottom of the forend lug. I have also seen them stamped "1" or "2" on the forward barrel lug. If there is no "1" or "2" anywhere stamped in either of these two places then it likely was a stand alone single barrel gun -- or possibly, but not likely given the S/N, an overrun extra set of barrels that were never part of an original gun. Most 28ga. Repro owners have found that barrels outside of their gun's original barrels will snap right on and require little to no fitting. If as described and the chokes haven't been messed with I would value your barrel set at around $1800-$2000. In regards to buying another gun and make it into a 2-bbl. set, keep in mind you will probably want to buy a 2-bbl. set case (not unheard of, but they seldom come to market) and sell the single barrel case that comes with the single bbl. gun. IMO, if you're dead set on a 2-bbl. set, I would sell the barrels you have and buy a matching number 2-bbl. set w/case. |
How is the box marked?
|
Thanks to all for this information.
The box says DHE 28 ST-2-BT Parker double barrel combination shotgun beaver tail forearm, regular stock 28 gauge 26" barrel ic-mod 28" barrel mod & full There is a # 1 on the barrel lug so I assume it was a 2 barrel set originally. |
There is a 28 gauge Reproduction with straight grip, single trigger, beavertail forend, one set of 26” barrels marked Q1 & Q2 coming up in an auction soon. The serhial number is 28-3747.
This would be a really neat two barrel set. If you’re interested, shoot me a PM and I’ll tell you where. . |
Dean makes a good offer.

I dont know what you are into the barrel set for, but figure that it would be a great addition to a 28g repro with just one set of barrels if you find one with the shorter more open choked barrels on it. If you buy it reasonably, you are ahead of the game on making up a 2bbl set. In my experience the barrels on the repros interchange very well and need little to no work to put on other repro guns.
That being said, the barrel set alone has a good deal of value in it. You could sell it, make some money and out it towards a gun that you want. |
I agree with all that has been said here. The one thing I would add is, in my opinion the modified and full chokes on these barrels are so tight they are almost worthless as they are. Since the numbers won't match any gun you buy, I would seriously consider opening the chokes to something more useful or the Briley thin wall tubes.

You can forget getting Briley Thin
Wall chokes installed. I called them and they said sure no problem, once they got them, they said no way tubes too thin so i had them opened to skeet and ic. Another on this site had same experience. I do very well now on skeet range with sk and ic |
