Any early quail reports?

It's been reported to be an excellent season for Gambel's quail here in AZ. From reading and talking to friends, I'm seeing big numbers. I jumped a few yesterday on a quick hunt. My son n law was deer hunting in Unit 33, and said there were large coveys all over. I also heard the same for Units 37b and 33.

Chris, that appears to be a very early Crescent Arms .410. Great shooting with a classic American double. I believe it was the first .410 breach loading double made in the USA.

Chris,
my brother hunted last week in the Wilcox area; HOT-HOT-HOT!!! Temperature reached high 80s and area was extremely dry. Found birds within 1 mile of stock tanks, they had 4 dogs on the ground and killed 5 quail, 3 Scales and 2 Gambels.
Water tanks are extremely low so winter rains need to arrive soon or birds are going to run out of water.
PS: Be prepared for Rattlesnakes as their food sources are around the water tanks!!!

I'll try the Superstitions this Saturday Scott. I know the coveys well. I'm always watching for rattlers, cold or warm!
