20 ga. w/ejectors 30" Parker steel barrels / hammerless PH Grade

Rich Anderson 12-30-2010 07:35 PM

Grade 1 (PH), caped pistol grip 20ga 30 inch bbls ejectors. Sounds like a nice gun.

Nice

This gun is proported to be an old Del Grego restoration. Yet to be verified. Serial number information is right on the money. Tight on hingepin and face, top lever centered, good screws, great dimensions. Just waiting for barrel wall thickness measurements.

What would be an unmolested bore diameter should wall thickness prove to be too much for the seller to measure?

What say you experts as to value?

:bowdown:Thanks as always,
Bobby

Not Del Grego in my opinion. It looks a lot more like Parker Brothers than anything else I am familiar with. Looks like a great gun. What do the rest of you think?

Dean Romig 12-31-2010 10:41 AM

I would venture to say Doug Turnbull Restorations did that gun.

Come to think of it, it looks just like the one Cabela's in Scarborough, ME had a few months ago... 30" barrels and all.... and then it was gone. They had a pretty ungawdly high price on it as I remember.

Bobby Cash 12-31-2010 11:47 AM

You are correct sir. $9,000 was their asking price. "New" listing at $5,999
.030 barrel wall thickness left and right, 2 3/4" chambers, 1/2" forend crack in front of hingepin (unrepaired), slightly loose on face. Unknown restoration but doesn't look to be overdone.
PGCA letter.
So what's it really worth?

:bowdown:Thanks as always,
Bobby

The folks at Cabela's have at least a 30% margin so if they have come down 3K that should tell you something as to what they have into it. They will still be ahead at 6K.

As to the actual value thats whatever you or someone else is willing to pay. I recently purchased a PH 16 0 frame for under 2K. An untouched gun in excellent condition. You can easily add 1,000 to 1500 (IMHO) for ejectors and the fluid steel bbls are an added value. My gun has twist bbls.

If you have The Parker Story you can look and see how many guns were made like the one your considering.
