What are the odds? Poor #169257...
Their is a gun for sale on GB that immediately intrigued me, a 36" 10 gauge #3frame D3 DH that would make a dandy bookend to my 36" 8 gauge D3 DH...BUT:eek:the muzzle photos looked a bit suspect...check THE BOOK, it seems that this gun started life as the only listed 38" 10 gauge D3 DH...now that was a gun..I guess Ill just hold on to my 36" D2 GH, no upgrade today...gun collecting like baseball is a "game of inches":crying:

Too bad Don! What an acquisition THAT would have been! I feel your pain...
Found it. That's the S/N. Here's the GB auction # if anyone wants to look at it. 207928209 |
still a good find even wih the short 36 inch barrels...i wouldown this gun if my pocket book was bigger..... charlie

What are the chances the Serialization book is wrong about the original barrel length? I to thought the muzzles were suspect but I find it hard to be 100% certain when judging from pictures rather than a gun in the hand. If they have been cut it is a crying shame.

Ya, If the book is right it's a real shame. But if the price is right it would be one hell-of-a gun. Those muzzles are suspect but we have seen guns leave the factory clipped to fill an order.Trouble is I just don't know....

You just have to have the gun in hand. However, a factory letter may prove that the order book specifies a 36" gun and maybe the stock book was misread when the serialization book was put together. More pictures, more use of the micrometer, PGCA letter.

Don, what's the serial #.

Mark, It's at the top of the thread 169257

Thanks for getting into this, Mark. The fellow doesn't seem to want to deal in PGCA letters. I asked for a scan of the letter on the 14 gauge and that I was very interested. He replied "There is no letter.".
