Another Unusual Parker

#77716 is now on Gunbroker and for whatever reason caught my eye. This one began life as a D grade with 30" damascus steel barrels . It now sports what appears to be Remington barrels void of the rib legend and has what I think is a Rem repair code on the flats. The receiver now has, or has possibly always had some rather unusual engraving on each side while the floor plate is void and at first glance appears to be that of a VH but it is lacking even the simple V border engraving. Wonder whatever happened to that original D engraving or was it ever there ? Could make for an interesting letter.

If I’ve seen a Parker without floor plate engraving I can’t remember it. One of the gurus will be tell to give the low down on the barrels. With the chokes marked on the barrel flats that is definitely a Remington trait. Really cool gun.

Very unusual and interesting. My guess is the gun did not look that way originally. A research letter would hopefully shed some light

Great!! Another Remington rebarreled gun to include in my files. Interesting that the left barrel flat of these Remington barrels shows a remnant of the JG in an oval mark of James Geary.

All the other barrel flat markings appear Remington. Too bad their camera doesn't have a better focus!! I think I can see a K or an X and a 3, part of the Remington repair code.

Randy the barrels are too darn short!! That is the biggest oddity.

I think the new barrels are 32" Reggie.

Yeah, I would be interested to know what the records say about that. I do not really think that they engraving is original. I suspect the gun was likely ordered without engraving, like we see sometimes, and then the engraving was added later on by someone who did not like the lack of engraving. Maybe by Remington when the barrels were replaced? The whole forend, wood and Metal is V grade. Likely that forend came with the barrels. The forend numbers are in the late font and it is marked with a "2" implying that they original set of barrels was still with the gun when that Remington set was installed.

Interesting gun. But with the price tag on it (over $4k), I will not be the one who finds out more about it hands on.

The K-9's are certainly not typical Parker engraving.
