Decided to load up all my 16 empties and got going today . I use the pretty pink CB 7/8 wad in the WIN hulls for ounce loads and the pretty light blue CB ounce wads in the REM hulls .

Finished all the Winchester hulls with 8’s . Now I’ll load all the Remington black hulls with the CB blue ounce wad filled with 7 1/2’s .

Think if I finish up the 16’s after lunch on Monday I’ll bring my Sizemaster 10 in and knock out a flat of 10 gauge with 7 1/2’s .

Hey Craig, what is the load you are using for each, and would you happen to know the fPS and PSI/

I’m using the MEC 29 bushing and it’s supposed to throw 19.6 grains of Unique but I don’t think I ever weighed a charge . All are ounce loads . If you use the black Remington hulls the CB WAA16 wad works nicely with a flat top to the crimp . In the Winchester hulls I’d get a heck of a dunk in crimp using the CB WAA16 so when they brought out the 7/8 ounce version I bought a couple bags and they got the tops flat enough to suit me with the WIN hulls . As to velocity and pressure I dunno .

That was not a bad leisurely day 700+ .

The WAA16 wad, now available as the CB0100, was originally intended for the Winchester/Western compression formed 16-gauge hull (Super-X, UPLANDER and DOVE & QUAIL) with tapered side walls, not the current straight sided Olin trash hulls.

How is the powder migration issue?

I'm still loading my supply of the compression formed 16-gauge hulls with the load that sports the * in the Ball Powder Loading Guide -- Win 209, 20 grains WSF, WAA16 wad and 1 ounce of shot. When Olin quit making the WAA16 I cleaned out Green Top Sporting Goods entire supply. Just about the time I was running out Clay Buster came to the rescue.

For 7/8 ounce loads I'm using the Down Range DR16 in Federal hulls.

When Winchester first made the WAA16 available to reloaders i used almost three cases of them up in about two years . I also back then I hoarded the Upland hulls and later the Xpert hulls as if I’m not mistaken they were the same hull . You cleaning out Greentop explains why I couldn’t find anymore as all I used had come from them . I shot up a fair amount of WSF back then in 16’s and 20’s . When in their infinite wisdom WIN saw fit to do away with 473AA I switched to WSF for 20 gauge Skeet loads and of course the 16 loads .
