Adjustable stock on a trap shotgun??
Adjustable stock on a trap shotgun- what are the pros and cons vs custom fitted stock?
Thanks! Jim |
Adjustable in which way? Adjustible comb up down, left right, adjustable for pitch? A custom stock should be fitted to your specs by a knowledgeable stocker. With an adjustable stock, you pretty much do it by your self or a stocker could set it up for you.

Pro - adjustable.
Con - if it is a vintage gun, it would look out of place. But that depends on if you care. And the next guy may not like it. |

other cons? if you're a real trap shooter you'll never stop messing with it :rotf: get one that requires a special tool - get it set and throw the tool away :bigbye: |
Not only if you’re a trap shooter but Skeet shooters and sporting shooters will mess with just about anytime when they start missing a target . They wanna blame the gun when 90% of the time it turns out they’re doing something that causes the misses . The first K-32 I had got an adjustable stock put on it for awhile . And very shortly thereafter I got a K-80 stock with a Monte Carlo non adjustable and my trap and Skeet scores shot up . So for me personally I don’t care for adjustable anything comb length of pull whatever .

Both my sbt's (Parker & Ithaca) do not fit me.
With the virus hanging around getting to a stock fitting with a try gun will not happen this year + So looking for a reasonable cost adjustable stock (sbt) to test at the pattern board to hopefully get measurements Thanks! Jim |
Jim, see your PM.

Adjustable stocks on shotguns are like fishing lures. When one doesn't work.......

I used to shoot skeet with a guy who would run 25 straight with a 28, then come back to the truck and adjust the stock because the breaks weren't good enough. PITA to shoot with. No talking, no nothing while on the field.

Most of us are not Mr Average....I wouldn't buy a dedicated target shotgun without one....
As far as stockfitters go....you can go to three different ones and go home with three different set of numbers... |
