Letters and "lost' guns

First, a nod to Mr. Bishop and the other research folks, they do a great job and are much appreciated. After seeing some photos of the Parker paperwork, I'm amazed at the amount of info they manage to wring out. I'd go blind/crazy!
I just got 2 of my applications for letters back as well as my checks. Very pleasantly surprised by the quick reply. Unfortunately neither gun had any available records. I was afraid of that when the serial numbers weren't listed but had to try. Does anyone know how many of the roughly 250,000 guns Parker made the records are missing for? I have 2 others that I find no listing for in the book. Is it worth the effort to apply for letters or is that info lost forever?

You can check the serial number on line to see if there are records. It's a very simple process, accessed from the research letters link on the home page.

BTW, I have several guns for which there are no records. They are still treasures, every one.

Every one I own I bought because I really liked it for one reason or another. Have no fear, the lack of a letter won't lead to the "used" rack at some pawn shop! One of these is an 0 frame 16, under 6# and the other a lovely little 20 ga. Nothing fancy, both are VH guns, but wicked fast at rising quail in the dense South Texas brush.

Use the Search function and type in “Parker Brothers Missing Stock Book Reference”
