The "Daily Parker Pages"....
 

Just stopped by for a few moments this afternoon to read the "The Daily Parker Pages"..... Setter Sioux and I were out early this morning giving some late season wile O'l Roosters a run for their money, and I was quickly reminded no matter how cold the wind or how deep the snow, when your in the wild Pheasants and the dog is birdy, mother natures most bitter elements seem to just fade away... With the heavy brush we were both wet from the get-go, but we still had a good long walk and Sioux made an incredible find on a downed bird I was sure had become holiday dinner for a hungry Fox. Too lengthy a story for now, but with lonnnnnng barrels, tight chokes, and a cold wind in our face, we sure had a great time on what some folks might consider a dismal day... I hope others here are still getting out later this season, more often than not I've found a good walk with a favorite old double gun and a great bird dog always puts a smile on my face...

As an aside: I would like to thank Bill Mullins for coining the phrase "The Daily Parker Pages" on the recent Nom-de-plumes thread, and also for his insightful comments regarding what this web-site means to the many folks who stop by here occasionally from all walks of life. Those who come here to read and learn, those who generously share their many years of Parker knowledge, and those who come here with questions and leave with helpful answers. The PGCA site and it's variety of forums has something for everyone, and that diversity is what makes this gathering place for like-minded folks a great place to visit.... THANK YOU! Bill Mullins for so eloquently reminding us All the value this site holds for everyone, and THANKs to John Dunkle for his daily efforts in making it a better place to be...

Chris, Thanks for sharing your day with us. Looks like Sioux didn't mind the weather at all..I think your insight about our"Daily Parker Pages" is spot on..A great holiday to you and the rest of the family. Tell Dad and Pat I said hi!

Really loved those pics..it was over 74 here in Texas today.
WhiteWing dove and Gentleman Bob White are the main birds we hunt down here.
Most of the time in short sleeves.We mostly hunt with Brittany Spaniels that also live in the
house with us.

Chris, Great pics. Nice to see Sioux again. Pete and I were out late this morning at the Richland County club to see if we find a bird or two left over from the morning hunt. The snow had knocked down the switch grass somewhat and the temp was single digit when we started. It's quite a sight to see a near hairless dog (pointer) work in those conditions. We were out a little over two hours and found two birds (our limit), one in the popples like a grouse. Pete wanted to keep going; he must have covered more than 15 miles so far. He does eat a lot more in this weather; guess that's what keeps the engine running.

Thanks for reminding us what a resource we all have here in this PGCA website. I echo Dave's sentiment, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I'm done for the season as far as hunting goes. After the holidays I plan to take some mental health time to read and write by the fire. Short cold and snowy days are good for that sort of thing.

Bummer Dean, I was about to give you a call for a hunt up North after the holidays.

When it really gets cold and breezy I'll were one of thoes white dust masks helps warm the air a little. Wish we could get a little snow makes them ol wiley birds set a little longer sometimes. ch
