The tripless trip

I have seen some interesting homemade repairs on the less than collectable Parker’s. It’s my mental health therapy to take these in and return them to at least a good shooter. Today I found a tripless trip. Somebody did a decent job of copying a trip but created just the solid shape. No spring or pin. Needless to say the whole purpose of the three parts of a trip was defeated. Kinda like watching a documentary on the Caribbean and believing you were on a trip. Sort of but not really. Cheers Jack

Does it function?

No. It can’t hold the lever open. And looking at the top “knob” you can see it is marred a lot from forcing the lever open and closed. It wore down eventually. But you wonder when things don’t work what might be the issue. And this qualifies as an issue.

All I see is what looks like a piece of welding slag. Or something that I can fish out of the chip tray on the lathe.
