I spoke with a friend/gunsmith/double gun restorer about this gun and he guesstimated six to eight large one's to bring her back. It'll take someone with some pretty deep pockets to tackle this project---don't worry about me making a play for it---the Mrs. would throw me out in the snow bank!

How easy is it to find fore end iron to fit?
I see the bid is up to 255$ this morning.

I slapped a #2 hammerless forend on a #7 frame hammer gun and it worked fine for years. I wish that fellow had included pictures of the bores.

Very interesting Bill. Was the fore end iron not quite as wide as the front of the frame or do all frames fit all fore end iron? I have only had 2 frame guns. Thanks for the insight.

The forend width dimensions are in The Parker Story. No, the #2 frame forend was narrower than the #7, but it snapped on and kept my barrels from falling off until I was able to get a proper forend. The story about finding a proper forend is long and sad. After having the proper forend on the gun for a while, I found the gun that the forend belonged on in London, UK at an auction house. I didn't want to sell my forend to the auction house, so I bid an absolutely ridiculous amount for the gun, not even knowing how I was going to get it home. The London auction house was very helpful, describing the gun over the phone and trusting a new bidder to pay a bill of five figures. I was astounded when my bid was beaten. By an even stranger coincidence, my friend Destry knew who the successful bidder apparently was. Destry gave me some information on the successful bidder, but it did not help me to get my gun or for the bidder to get his forend back.

Different project gun...but can someone give me width dimension of the 00 frame, 000 frame, and 0000 frame at the forend?

Across hinge they are all 1.5 inches. and across the bolsters the 000 is 1 3/4, the 00 is 1 29/32 and the 0 is 1 3/32
