Ejector Issues
 

I have an ejector gun and if you remove the fore arm with the triggers cocked the right ejector hammer trips and has to be reset before putting the fore arm back on. If you fire the triggers before removing the fore arm it comes off and the hammer does not trip. Any ideas as to what the problem is? Thanks for any help.

David - Parker ejectors can be extremely sensitive to the wrong hands messing with them. Send it to a qualified expert. I would suggest Del Grego.

But is sounds like the ejectors function just fine under normal use and the only issue being the removal of the forend and the hammer tripping at that time.

Basically the top side of the combination sear is not grabbing the hammer. But... this can be caused by 2 or 3 different things as the root cause. No way to diagnose over the internets.

Parker Ejector systems sure are a pain.

Your first post should solve your problem, Fire the barrels before removing the forearm and the ejector hammers will not fire. End of problem.

As Brian said, the upper nose of the combo sear is not engaging the notch in the hammer. This could be caused by a number of things. The plunger pin tip could be slightly worn and not pushing the sear slide forward enough to allow the sear to be pushed up by the sear spring to engage in the notch. The cocking toggle could have some uneven wear and it's not pushing the ejector hammer back quite far enough to allow the sear to engage. If the gun is loose on the joint this could exaggerate the problem. Your best bet would be to remove it from the wood and give it good cleaning and lube to make sure there is no dried crud in there. If that doesn't help then send it to someone if it bothers you.

Yes. Also, The sear spring on the bottom could also be weak and not pushing the sear up to engage the hammer. Or the sear could be damaged (but likely not, or the ejector would trip every time the gun is opened). Or the mechanism just needs to be cleaned.

I would vote for cleaning first..

I had intermittent issues with ejectors on a 16 Ga that was solved by removing the forearm wood and cleaning them, full of dried oil, crud, etc. All fixed.

Thanks for everyone's input. Much to think about but for now I think I will just fire the triggers as long as the ejectors continue to work properly.
