Kansas Pheasant Hunt
I will taking my most prized possessions, my Brittany and my new Parker DH, that would be new to me since this grand lady was made in 1905, to Kansas to hunt pheasants. I have not hunted in Kansas before so following the suggestions of both Gun Dog and Pheasants Forever forcasts I plan on focusing on the Southwest part of the state. Any guidence in terms of specific State Wildlife Areas or consentrations of walk-in areas would be appreciated. Thanks inadvance Bill.

Jent: The place you are talking about is the home place of one of my friends. His parents still live in the ranch house. Be carefull the cedar trees and I think 40 acres ARE NOT in the walkin hunting. Outside of that I was there opening weekend and we saw a lot of birds but you better have young strong legs and good dogs. By now you will not see as many and the place is 5 sections so they will run all around you. Good luck. I may be there myself after the first of the year. Lee.

Hunting Atlas

The Hunting Atlas would be INFINITELY more useful if the Parks and Wildlife folks would include the roads or even the GPS coordinates of the Walk In Hunting Areas. I could never find the 4 to 5 square mile area suggested in a thread above nor could folks that had lived their entire life direct me--very frustrating and totally unnecessary. End of rant. Bill |
