i have a 1922 gh spc steel (with ejectors) 12g, it was handed down to me from my great grandfather. the stock dried out and broke at the grip. where or how can i get a replacement. it is straight by the way. the other question is how much is this gun worth (fair cond) approx.?

Welcome aboard Eric..!!!
Waitaminute - I just approved your registration??!!! What took you so long to post??!! (30 seconds??!!! :) ) Seriously welcome aboard!!! As well - being your great grand-dads Parker, I know it means a lot.. So - before anyone can make a recommendation - if you can post some pics - we'll be able to make some suggestions.. For me - I'd lean on trying to salvage the original stock if it can be repaired, but pics will help to see if that's a viable option?? Again - welcome Eric!!! John |
thanks i will take some pics and post them. the break is clean but missing a small pc. i really think i will need to replace it. but i will wait till i post pics and see what people think

With the new glues and methods of repair they are restoring stocks that would have been firewood a few years ago. I am in awe of some of the repairs I have seen done to stocks by the experts. It is usually a lot less than the cost of a proper replacement to have it fixed too.

This is a gun ,I have owned for a few years ,it is a 20 Ga. PH with Twist Barrels , some of you may remember my first post on this gun and my dislike for UPS at the time ,the stock had been snapped completly in two pieces ! With the expertise of a good friend and Gun Smith Buddy ,he managed a respectable repair ,You are able to see the break faintly in the last photo ,anything is possible ,just don't be too hasty to make a decision and sort through your options ! Best of luck with your gun ! Russ Eric ,I edited this ,I forgot to say ,Welcome to the Club ,You are in the right place ! Russ Jackson

About $2000 for a new stock , maybe several hundred for a repair. I know what I'd do, but maybe that's just me.
A buddy just bought a nice fluid steel GHE 12ga at the Rock Island Auction for $2300 by the time all the charges were paid. I thought he got a good deal. |
I have seen guns with worse breaks fixed and the fix will not be visible without very close inspection. There was another thread here a few weeks ago talking about this subject and I think it had names of places that could do the work. I'll see if I can find it.
