Need Help with French Proof
I have a French double 16 ga that I am trying to ID the maker. It has a proof mark on the table that I can not find. An oval with a lions head & the letters G & F on either side of the lion. Pretty sure this is a makers ID. Any one know who it is? Thanks, Jim

Wouldn’t the proof house stamps be on the barrel flats?

Who is the maker of the gun? It could be a makers mark?

The PT is a Paris nitro proof. The Lion/GF? Not a proof mark. So it must be the maker. Whoever that may be...

does anyone have a copy of this book?
https://www.abebooks.com/servlet/Sea...ctionary&isbn= there are only a few pages on line A, G and S that I have found, but it looks very comprehensive there are a lot of French makers listed https://www.archivingindustry.com/Gu...irectory-g.pdf |
I hadn't seen that book before. Will order one, thanks for posting, Jim.
