Barrels will not lock down and release top lever
Took a 20 ga trojan for skeet today at my club in plymouth. Was shooting reloads, some of which the crimping was not tight and some shells had not been fully re-sized during reloading process. Anyway, one shell was very swelled and gun would not close except under great pressure from me. After shooting, tried to reload and top lever would not lock down. Barrels would go back on ok, and would seemingly close tight as usual but top lever would not , will not release to locked position. Inspected inside of frame and saw no lead deposits. Barrels seem to seat tight but top lever will not release. Any thoughts? Is there a spring i may have broken by forcing the barrels to close on the shells as noted above?

Got it Dean. If there is a sliver of lead in the frame in and around where the barrels lock in, i can not find it e en with a flash light. But i will look and run some cleaning materials inside. We will see

It may require some disassembly... have you ever taken a Parker apart?

That raises a question....
Are there good, detailed, step by step instructions for disassembly and assembly of Parker Bros. shotguns on this forum or on the web elsewhere? Bill Jacobs |
Good question

Search function turned up three albums from Brian Dudley with really excellent instructions for a lot of the disassembly process. Thanks, Brian!

Ill have Dan Cullity fix it. He has worked on other Parkers for me and his work is excellent.

brians instructions on taking a parker apart are really good even i can take a parker apart and put it together right... charlie

Gun is at Cullity's now. Could be a piece of lead birdshot is lodged inside the frame. Dan is confident its no big deal.
