Bolt Plates

Does anyone know if bolt plate replacements are available anywhere? I have a replacement set of barrels that have a slight up down movement. The bolt is has a little play and the lever is left of center with the original barrels and the replacements. There is no play up or down with the original barrels. Any thoughts on possible fixes are appreciated.

Is it the 1905 plate (flat) or the 1910 plate (stepped)?

Galazan used to sell the stepped ones, but last I knew they were out.

I have some on hand.

It is the stepped plate. But

Del Grego has the Parker jig to cut/replace the bolt plate.

Harry, can you explain the use of that jig?

Harry Collins 09-30-2019 09:58 AM

Bill, as I understand it the jig holds the barrel lug in a way that a precise cut can be made for the bolt plate. This was garnered either from an article I read or a conversation with one of the DelGrego's. I can't remember.

I do not think that Dave needs his barrel machined. I think he just needs a replacement plate.

And... The machining of a barrel for acceptance of a bolt plate can be done on any Mill or even a lathe with a milling attachment.
