Questions about my Damascus GH
New member looking for some sound advice.
My First Parker. GH, in good condition circa 1897? Want to shoot it a bit, take a wild pheasant with it, but mostly to add to my very small collection of SxS's. Seller has recently shot the gun safely. Questions: I have 3 day inspection and a good smith. What wall thickness is right and makes it a safe gun to shoot? What shells will be appropriate for this gun? 2 1/2" chamber. Does RST make a shell for a damascus gun? Other options? I'll post pics when I get it. Any advice on inspecting a damascus gun also appreciated. thanks, Bill |
I shoot a lot of Damascus barreled guns and only shoot 2 1/2 inch shells either from RST or my own reloads using their hulls. I can't speak to the proper amount of wall thickness on a 12 as my guns are mostly small bores, What frame size is it?

Here you go William
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...vwLYc-kGA/edit Yes, the 2 1/2" RST loads would be an excellent choice after the gun has been evaluated. |
