True or false?

Seen on another forum: "Parker guns, from the action flats down, are all the same size. This gives the small bore guns an odd shape, almost pregnant looking."

So...true or false?

My 00 frame 28 says "FALSE"!

Dean Romig 04-13-2019 06:20 PM

True, but they look far from "pregnant."

This statement is NOT completely true.

At least in regards to width. The different frame sizes have different widths. Except for a couple exceptions where widths are shared.

The only truth to it would in regards to height. The height of the frames from barrel flats to trigger plate are the same. This MAY explain the opinion of a “pregnant” appearance.

At least the Parker Bros. frames vary in width. I stuck a caliper over my 2-frames and that setting wouldn't go over the 3-frame and had nearly a quarter inch play on an 0-frame.

NID Model Ithacas are the same from, .410-bore to Super-10. Only difference is in the height and width of the standing breech and the firing pin spacing.

H is the measurement in question the depth

The various frame sizes are something that we can measure and report. The way the design looks in small bore Parkers is an aesthetic opinion. I have my opinion, and my guess is that each of us has one. I find the proportionally longer frame of Parker small bores quite handsome.
