Parker Hammer, near new
 

I picked up a couple of guns that to me are unbelievable. They may be run of the mill stuff but I'm just shocked by the condition. One is a hammer ten gauge, with the fish tail or crooked top lever. The colors on the top and sidelocks are 100% bright and original. Nearly all the pattern is there. Grade O I think. The barrels are mint with nearly all the pattern. The other is an EH Grade hammerless 10. Not heavy with color but pretty well untouched and clean and tight as the day it was made. I'm on vacation for a bit and can't post pictures until I return.. Could these things be for real? I've not seen Parkers this old look like this. I know doubles, and they are not redone. Of this I am positive. How in the heck did they survive! Especially the hammer gun. I"ll try & post serial numbers at least. Are there records available for guns this old? Thanks much, Jerry

Good on ya, Jerry! It is hard to believe that things are still being found in closets or attics, where they have been sitting for decades. On the brighter side, maybe someone found them, figured they were Great Grandad's guns, knew the butthead grandkids would make them into 'alley sweepers' or pawn them, and made them available for a true enthusiast. Cheers!

I'm going to sell the gun. As beautiful as they are they aren't my bit. I'd like to advertise them to the Parker forum first, as they seem to appreciate stuff like this more than most. The guns are really pretty guns, especially the hammer. I'll send photos when I get back home. Jerry

Jerry, every once in a great while one of these Parkers turns up in virtually unfired condition. The thing that amazes me is the fact that the lowest utility grades are well represented in this condition where we would expect the higher grades to be the only guns as the better preserved examples.

Rumor has it this was purchased by a wife for a husband who thought he might like to hunt. Turns out he didn't so the thing sat for quite awhile before ending up in an estate auction with the EH hammerless 10 gauge. Jerry
