Budd Pins

3 Attachment(s)
As background , C M Budd was a maker of gun accessories and made an outfitted demonstration case of his company’s items beside a Parker backaction lifter. Photo 1.

In that case is a small vial of pins. They are of varying lengths and are thin at the extended tips. They are not Parker plunger strikers. They do not look like any Parker parts. Photos 2 and 3.
Any ideas what they are?

Look like drift punches to me for removing pins.

Paul Ehlers 02-28-2019 10:08 AM

Could they be replacement pins for the de-capper for removing spent primers?

Bruce Day 02-28-2019 10:18 AM

Paul I think that may be a possibility. If drifts, why so many and what pins do they match? I don’t see what they would punch.

We’ll look at the de capper parts . These surely are thin. Thanks for your responses. The case and accessories is extraordinary.

Probably a whole set of drift pins for all purposes, not just that gun.

Clue would be the pins size. Drift pin sets are graduated small to large. If all the same and primer punch size that’s the likely answer. Looks like two lengths. 2 5/8 & 2 3/4 shells ?

the working end seems a little short for a pin punch,

on the other hand, the decapper (boxer type) for a shotshell loading kit is normally in the wooden tool used to seat the wads, covered by the palm piece.

The old Winchester rifle loading tools did have a decapper a bit like these, but I doubt that is the use since these are cased with shotgun tools

but, looking at the photo closer, is the tool under the trigger guard the wad rammer? it looks to have a decapper with a collar, does that match the tool in question?
