Parker 8 gauge can you still buy ammo for it?

A friend of mine just bought an 8 gauge Parker on a #7 frame made in 1910 which has hammers. He would like to shoot it once a year. Can you still find shells for this and where would you get them. It has twisted barrels. Any respone would be great. Brian

Brian - he'll need to reload

and I am sure the 8 gauge shooters here will be along to help you

I saw two boxes of Remington Arrow 8 ga. shells at a local decoy show 2 weeks ago, both full and correct. One dealer was extremely proud of his, priced at $850; the other dealer not so much (more of a realist) and wanted cash, priced his box at $450. They both went home with them.

Shells are still available in England if I'm not mistaken. If customs will let you bring them home it would be worth the trip at the prices Kevin mentioned.

tom arbrust would probably load some shells for ya ll...qorder some hulls from presicion reloading some wads and get tom arbrusts book 4 and 8 bores buy some bluedot powder and you can make your own shells..a pair of olkd wire pliars can be used to squezze the hull down to size of the gun not pretty but it will work....i use a old 10 gauge lee hand loader to deprime and prime my shells...also use it to push in the wadding...i use a roll crimper and a hand drill to crimp my shells...you can also hot glue the over shot wad in place.... a fellow can also deprime hulls with a small ended punch...use a wood dowel or a 3/8 inch extension to push wads in even a wood dowel....shells are easy to load by hand just slow....the 8 ga is a hoot to shoot and hunt with....finest long range turkey gun in the world.....charlie

Charlie loaded some for me and the Turkey never knew what hit him. If Tom Armbrust will do it, that is a good source too.

Once you get empties, eight gauge shells can be loaded without tools if you forgo the crimp and use a glued in overshot wad. Where does your friend live? If we can do a face to face, maybe I can share some components with him. I see no problem using fast burning smokeless powder for light loads.

If this is the PA gun sold this week, it was an astounding good buy. A very high serial number for a hammer gun.
