Parker DHE 2-Barrel Question

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all!

I am new to this forum and, frankly, Parkers as well.

I am a FFL (a small 1-man shop in Massachusetts) and have consigned 4 Parkers, which is where my education began. Pretty quickly I picked up a copy of the Parker Gun Identification & Serialization which has proven a great primer and reference.

I am looking for some input on a 20 gauge DHE that has two sets of barrels. Serial numbers on both barrels match (as well as the receiver and forend). One of the barrel sets (26” and presumably the original) is marked “Titanic Steel” while the other (28”) is void of any rib markings. The Parker Gun Identification & Serialization does not reference a second set of barrels, only the option “2” (ejectors).

The serial number is 239154, putting the gun in the Remington years. My assumption at would be that after initial delivery, a second set of barrels was ordered which were made and fitted under Remington.

Thoughts?

Show us the rest of it please. The second set could be original or added later by Remington. Show us the barrel flats for each barrel so we can see if there are Remington repair codes. DHE 20's are nice guns.

Michael, where in Mass are you located?

Dean Romig 12-19-2018 04:46 PM

Hi Mike! I know you... or I know your father... executive director of GOAL, right?

I live in Andover, MA and have held positions as BOD member and officer of a couple of shooting and fishing clubs. I'm glad you found us!

The set of barrels without the legend on the rib are late Remington production. But we should still see clear pictures of the barrel flats.

Where is your shop? I'd like to visit you there.

Best, Dean

Are both sets 20 Gauge? One looks larger.

Hi Dean - yes, that would be my Dad you're thinking of. I'll get some better pictures of the barrel flats posted tomorrow when I get to the shop.

The second set looks to be remington made and remington fitted barrels. Fitted to the gun at a later date then the gun was originally made.
