Parkers At Julia Auction
Final prices are now posted on the Julia Auction website and it appears that Walter P. Chrysler's Winchester Model 21, and a lot of Parkers didn't reach their reserve price ... What, if anything, does that tell us about current values of our beloved Parkers and other shotguns ? ... I'm NOT being smug or sarcastic, I just think the current state of the Parker market would be a good topic for discussion here.

I think the fact that bids didn't meet the reserve has less to do with the value of these guns than the willingness or ability of bidders to meet and surpass the reserve as well as bidders expectations of "stealing" a fine gun because of a perception that a seller "had" to turn a gun or guns into quick cash which is rarely the case when a gun is consigned to the finer auction houses.

IMO it has everything to do with the value of the guns. The expectations of many sellers is they can stick any sort of ridiculous price on a Parker (or any other fine gun ) and expect someone to snap it up because of its uniqueness, provenance, or other determinate of value. The bubble has burst and buyers' are waiting for recognition of this fact from sellers. I believe it is happening too.

Many of the estimates were "pre crash" prices. The "Did not sell, make offer." list is now up on the Julia website. We don't know what the highest bid was on these guns, but offer what you please.

I must be doing something wrong as I can not access the list of guns sold and not sold. Someone mind telling me what I am doing wrong (yes I am reg. with Julia's) or put a link here on our website. thanks
