Gunsmuthing Question
I am a PGCA member and NOT a gunsmith.
I have a well used Parker Reproduction shotgun. It is my go to gun. After a few rounds of sleet I have noticed that the screw on the bottom plate just ahead of the trigger guard tends to creep out a little. Might a little Lock Tite solve this problem or is there a better solution? Please forgive my intentional spelling errors. Thank you. Steve Kleist. Ely, MN |
I had the same problem with one of mine. I put a drop of finger nail polish on the threads and tightened. No problem since.

Gary, will the nail polish give easily when it comes time to remove that screw? I've always used low strength loc-tite for such fasteners..the purple stuff.
|
I am sure loc-tite is the more appropriate solution but I did not feel like buying a bottle for one drop. I have no doubt the finger nail polish will be easy to remove, probably more so than the loc-tite.

Shellac will work too if you have some of that.
|
Probably should run the screw out and degrease with alcohol before using a thread locker.
