Choke determination

Can I "mike" the inside of the bore at the muzzle and determine the choke?

David Borrowman 09-23-2010 05:36 PM

Short answer is yes, long answer is no. If you don't know the starting bore diameter, you can't get the constriction, which determines choke. However, Parker bore sizes are probably listed somewhere on this forum. Additionally, just because a gun has a certain restriction, doesn't mean it will shoot a certain pattern. The only way to truly know what the choke (% of pellets in a 30" circle at 40 yds) is to shoot the gun.

However if you are at a gun show and are considering buying a gun, a mike will go a long way in getting you where you want to be.

The answer is no. Parkers had different bore diameters. One of my 12ga hammerguns has a .741 bore, others a lot less. Paul

Pattern

OK...I'll shoot it next week at 30" paper. Anyone have a tutorial on this; shot size, % pellets in 30" =s what choke etc.
Thanks
Dave
