The torch has been passed

I brought my inherited VHE20 down to Michigan and presented it to my niece a few days ago. Tough move but it was time. I know many of you have done the same thing. She got a lengthy and private introduction to the gun and now has it safely ensconced in a gun safe in Chicago. She has been an avid skillful shooter her whole life and works as an NRA instructor at a gun shop in Chicago and will, I'm convinced, shoot it and take good care of it. I encouraged her to come on the forum here and introduce herself, which I think she will do at some point.
Picture added. This is how I passed it on, nicely cased with a freshly glued in label. |
Beautiful Richard.

I too have done it, with my grandson and a nice young man on this forum too. butt Mine weren't inherited, Pass it on!

Nice move Richard! My most cherished guns are the ones I've inherited from various family members. None of them are Parkers with most just being rather plain Jane Remington's. Almost everything in my safe could be bought other than those family guns.
I imagine your niece will cherish the Parker more & more as time goes on and some day she will be telling the story to another family member of the day that uncle Richard came down from Alaska to give me this gun. |
I have no family to pass anything to so I have decided to bequeath Gunner's gun to "my adopted" son a Parker, Fox friend who has a young son of his own and even runs a couple of GSP"s

Available for adoption

Rich, you could always give it back to its original owner. She would love it.

Thats a good thought Bill but I'm looking into the future and as the recipient is in his early 40's and his son is about 8 now I can see two more generations enjoying this one.
|
Hey Rich I remember you telling us about that gun and your intentions when we were hunting in Montana. Isn’t that your mom’s gun?
|
Correct Mike. I've added a pic to the first post. Same gun I had in my hands in one picture that was put in the Parker Pages a while back that shows the first birds I bagged with that gun, my "in a galaxy far far away" picture. I think it looks downright "right" in that compact toe under case.
