Remington hammer

Could anyone find the year of manufacture of s\n 206070, i am not sure but think it is a model 1899. Thank you.

The PGCA makes it so easy, finally found the info i was looking for, wish every collector group was as well organized and user friendly. It is from 1901, i bought it for 20 dollars from the wall hanger rack in 1970 and have shot it ever since.

The only Remington hammer double that would have a serial number in the two hundred thousand range would be the Model 1889. Their serial numbers reached 100000 about 1900 they jumped them to 200000 so as to not be confusing with Remington Hammerless Double Barrel (Model 1894) serial numbers in the one hundred thousand range.

Well?? Pictures?? I have a nice damascus Remington hammer gun that shoots and fits me v nicely. Model 1895? 1897? 1887? Can't even remember.

Thank you, i found that it is a 1889 by the hammer shape and the year is 1901 after a lot of searching through the internet. No single source as easy as the PGCA. It is in great condition and full and full, with 28 ga. tubes skeet in and out it draws a lot of attention on the skeet field and without the tubes on the trap field. Photo to follow if my granddaughter will do it at lunch time.

Photo of the Remington, it sparks a lot of interest and questions about vintage guns at the clubs i shoot at.

The Remington Arms Co. only made one model of hammer double barrel shotgun. All the earlier variations, lifter and top-lever were made by E. Remington & Sons. Most of the Remington Arms Co. catalogs only picture the plain grades of the Remington Hammer Double Barrel Shotgun. These pages from the second 1901 Remington Arms Co. catalog --

Thank you, mine must be a # 1. I enjoy seeing the old advertising and the cost of these things at the time, seems cheap at first glance but when you look up the average wage for the time you find they are cheap today in comparison to then.
